In my 40s I suffered a biking accident, 3 ankle sprains, knee injuries, and I was diagnosed with scoliosis plus a variety of other spinal conditions. Back spasms became uninvited visitors. A hip injury in my early 50s ended my racquetball days and caused me to take up yoga. Fortunately, my yoga teacher was also a physical therapist!
Through gentle, therapeutic yoga, my pain lessened and the meditation helped me to deal with trauma caused by the sudden death of my brother and my mother’s progressing Alzheimer’s.
However, when my mother’s fall resulted in her broken hip, surgery, nursing care, and death, I set forth on a mission to educate myself and others about improving self-care so we can enjoy aging with more grace and ease. And, in the process, acquire fall prevention strategies and habits!
As an experienced yoga teacher registered with Yoga Alliance and certified by the International Association of Yoga Therapists, my goal is to help you to live your best life every day. I believe that experience is the best teacher and I have had years of experiential learning from injuries, illnesses, as well as the aging process, itself. That’s why I’ve established the “Vibrant Aging for Life” school. The courses we offer go beyond yoga and address life skills needed for survival.
We educate, coach, and create customized programs to improve your self-care. My mission is to empower people with movement/balance challenges and those suffering from anxiety or mood disorders, to gain strength, flexibility, agility, confidence and the vitality necessary to live life well.

Hi, I’m Sharon Byrnes
I love yoga! Especially “Gentle/Therapeutic Yoga,” which changed my life. After I suffered a repetitive use injury, I discovered the therapeutic benefits of yoga, which then inspired me to become a registered yoga teacher. I hold the designation of Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance and I am certified by the International Association of Yoga Therapists. I also serve as an “Accessible Yoga Ambassador”. I am a teaching facility member of Svastha Yoga and Ayurveda with doctor Ganesh Mohan. I have a Masters in Health and Physical
Education and a second Masters in Special Education. I have taught for over 30 years.
